"It happened at 9:00PM on April 10th 1965. Almost
the whole audience invaded the stage of the Paramount Theatre
in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The screams of "Encore", "Encore",
the tears of a young 20 years old "boy", the fascination
of a successful singer. These were the very positive signs at the
end of an unforgetable musical show. And those who were lucky enough
to be there that night would comfirm it. Elis Regina and
Jair Rodrigues had just finished a memorable night where
they produced the most successful concert in Brazilian history
(an audience in excess of 2000 people), sensational press reviews,
the most perfect performance in all senses (including technically)
Sao Paulo has seen and Brazil will ever listen to. We could not
have predicted what happened at the Paramount that night, even after
having previously experienced more than 13 similar shows. At the
end of the event, we were visited in our office in the Paramount
by droves of people who demanded more shows and were willing
to make bookings for the next one (although they didn't even know
if there was one scheduled) as a consequence of the intense, magical
energy of that night. Elis Regina and Jair Rodrigues
proved that modern Brazilian music is already part of people's life.
Because of that, I tell them: Thank you very much. You're just unbelievable
!! The history of our music will have much to say about both of
you...."

I have both Dois na Bossa 1 & 2 in the original
LP format and I'm glad I could get hold of them in CD's.

Following the success of the first concert, this second
one is even more exciting as it reaches beyond perfection...
Listen to Elis passionate interpretation of such fabulous songs
as "Tristeza que se foi" (I just adore this
particular interpretation) and "Amor até o fim"
. Elis is, in my opinion, the GREATEST Brazilian singer ever. Listen
to her powerful interpretation of "Canto de Ossanha"
and "Upa neguinho". Jair is the perfect
complement to Elis with his uplifting performance... His magnificent
interpretation of "Tristeza" , "São
Salvador , Bahia" and the magnificent "Santuario
do Morro" are just a very small example of his ability
of his exceptional talent. They accompanied by Luiz Loy Quintet,
Bossa Jazz Trio and Adilson Godoy. For all
the drummers out there interested in the real old school
Brazilian feel for drum kit, this CD is priceless.
I
highly recommend this CD which showcases the golden era of Brazilian
Music.
