This is your chance to learn percussion from Brazilian Master Drummer Carlos Ferreira. Born and bred in the Vila Isabel (a suburb in Rio de Janeiro known for being ‘heart of samba’). Carlos regularly parades with major Samba Schools in the famous Rio Carnival Parade and is a passionate, experienced teacher keen to share his percussion skills with you. Learn to master a wide range of Brazilian rhythms, experience Brazil’s rich culture and enjoy playing along with fellow percussion enthusiasts in a fun and friendly environment.
A “Bateria” is the percussion section of a Samba School. In Carlos’ hometown, Rio de Janeiro, there are often up to 300 percussionists playing in one Bateria!
Workshop participants will learn to play a range of Brazilian Percussion rhythms, build theirknowledge of musical forms and master drumming techniques in a fun Bateria environment led by Mestre Carlos.
Levels:
DRUMMING SKILLS: Suitable to all levels, from Beginners to Advanced.
KNOWLEDGE OF SAMBA BATERIA: Suitable to Beginners & Intermediate.
Genuine Brazilian instruments provided or BYO (See instruments listed above).

1) Starting date and times will be confirmed as soon as we reach the required minimum of 10 students.
2) Our workshops are intended for adults aged 18 and above unless stated otherwise.
Students aged 15–17 can participate if accompanied by an enrolled adult.
